The Vulcan Experience
Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Located at Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster, The Vulcan Experience allows you to get up close and personal with the phenomenal XH558 military jet – one of the world’s most iconic aircrafts that is remembered by its role in the Cold War and Falklands Conflict.
The experience is more than a flight museum as you see the real thing, real engineers, and real artefacts. As the experience is located in a working environment, the tours can sometimes coincide with engineering activity, but this is more the reason to visit as you get to see the real maintenance the plane requires.
The Vulcan Experience offers guided tours, the chance to speak to aircrew, engineers, and senior staff, making the experience insightful for both aircraft enthusiasts and beginners. Alongside this, there are opportunities to see historical Vulcan items and the crew’s personal collections.
The Vulcan Experience offer a range of packages to suit visitor requirements.
Public tours are offered for up to 60 people. For those who would prefer something more private, a VIP tour is available which includes no more than six people, and guests have the once in a lifetime opportunity to sit in the pilot’s ejection seat.
There is also an opportunity to meet Barry Masefield, a “Vulcan-expert” who has amazing technical knowledge and fantastic stories to tell about his experiences in the RAF.
If you want to ask questions and gain insight from the senior technical managers, the technical tour may be for you. To see the aircraft in action and hear the jets roar, an “Engine Ground Run” experience allows guests to immerse themselves in the preparation of an engine test.
Educational and group visits are welcome, where the crew can tailor the experience to your needs. The venue also provides a unique, and unforgettable location for parties, corporate events and photo shoots. The tarmac is even open to photographers wishing to capture special images of the iconic aircraft.
