Mount St John Sporting
Boltby, North Yorkshire
Don your tweed jacket and get ready to take part in some Yorkshire game shooting with Thirsk’s Mount St John Sporting.
The company will make you feel like lord or lady of the manor thanks to their high standards of service and hospitality. These are the kind of people who can give you the kind of day out reminiscent of scenes from TV’s Downton Abbey.
The company offers a unique portfolio of challenging shoots on some of the most evocative sporting estates in Yorkshire.
Grouse shooting covers two moors consisting of some 6,000 acres of heather-topped moorland set within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.
Pheasant and partridge shooting takes place over four estates: Murton Grange, Duncombe Park, Mount St John Estate and Cowesby Estate.
Each estate is home to a stunning shoot lodge to complete the feel of a day out in the country.
The topography of the land over the shoots lends itself to presenting fantastic, testing birds.
Whether you want a single day or multi-day package their team will organise everything you need to make it an adventure to remember.
The company can also arrange accommodation for those looking for multi-day shoots.
West Acre Lodge, in the Hambleton Hills, is set on a former 19th-century dairy farm. It’s now been refurbished to provide 11 bedrooms with en-suite facilities. There’s also a large living room, a dining room with panoramic country views, and a fully equipped kitchen.
Designed with shooting in mind, it also includes individual gun safes in each room, on-site parking, and use of a boot room/drying room.
There’s also the chance to stay at The Carpenters Arms – a traditional pub, restaurant and rooms. It has 10 rooms with en suite bathrooms, gun safes and drying facilities.
