Warren Gill Shooting Ground

Ripon, North Yorkshire

Corporate events, birthday parties, stags, hens, 1-to-1 tuition, game coaching and taster sessions… it’s time to learn to clay-pigeon shoot.

Warren Gill Shooting Ground, set in the picturesque countryside of Lower Wensleydale, is a great place for anyone over the age of 12 who wants to learn to shoot on a private course. It lies in a narrow, secluded and tree-lined valley, with a winding beck and wild flowers – the shooting clays does not get much better!

Parties are hosted by Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA)-certified instructors with group sizes of no more than six people. The company is run by husband-and-wife team Dave and Ann Elgie and their son, Ross, who is a champion marksman and future Olympic hopeful.

If it’s game shooting that you are interested in, they can offer coaching while you peg – as the ground is a sporting one, the traps represent various birds in flight such as grouse, high pheasant and partridge. Coaching can also be offered in the field during the game season.

Experienced shooter? Take on the targets without tuition.

Corporate days out and stag and hen dos are all offered – and there are catering options from a simple bacon-butty breakfast, to more elaborate lunches. Alternatively, Warren Gill can arrange for meals in one of the many hostelries in Masham.
